Tazewell Recent Arrests: Mugshots, Bookings & Records

Independent public-record guide: USA-Arrests.org is not the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, Tazewell County Justice Center, Tazewell County Circuit Clerk, Illinois Courts, Illinois Department of Corrections, Illinois State Police, Illinois Attorney General or any police department.

An arrest, custody-list entry, warrant, charge or booking record is not a conviction. Custody can change after a court hearing, release or transfer, and charges may later be amended, dismissed or resolved differently. Use the court record when the legal outcome matters.

Tazewell County Recent Arrests: Start With the Sheriff’s Current Custody List

For a recent arrest in Pekin, East Peoria, Morton, Washington, Creve Coeur or elsewhere in Tazewell County, the most useful official starting point is the Tazewell County Sheriff’s custody lookup. The roster shows current detainees and booking details; warrants, police reports, court records, visitation and state custody use different systems.

What Are You Trying To Find in Tazewell County?

Tazewell County publishes unusually useful Sheriff tools, but each one answers a different question. The custody list is for people currently represented in the county detention system. The warrant list is separate. Sheriff reports use FOIA. Court cases use the Circuit Court portal.

What locals should know:

The Sheriff’s custody table includes an Agency column. Current records can involve the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, Pekin Police Department, East Peoria Police Department, Creve Coeur Police Department, Illinois State Police and other agencies. The jail can therefore hold someone even though a different department created the arrest report.

Official custody workflow

How To Search Recent Arrests in Tazewell County IL

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s current custody page is a public table rather than a typical mugshot-card gallery. That makes it especially useful for checking dates, detainee IDs and arresting agencies quickly.

  1. 1

    Open the Sheriff’s custody lookup

Go directly to Tazewell County Inmate Lookup — Custody. Confirm the domain is sheriff.tazewell-il.gov.

  2. 2

    Search the legal surname carefully

Use the person’s legal name. If you have a common surname, compare first name, middle initial, age and sex before assuming a row belongs to the correct person.

  3. 3

Check the booking date and time

The official table displays BookDate and BookTime. These are more useful for confirming a recent arrest than the date on a copied social-media post.

  4. 4

    Write down the DetaineeID

The roster includes a DetaineeID. Save it before calling the jail or arranging inmate communication because it helps distinguish people with similar names.

  5. 5

Read the charge and agency as booking-stage information

The custody table shows a charge label and agency. Those fields explain why the person is represented in custody; they do not establish guilt or the final charge filed in court.

  6. 6

Move to the court portal for what happened next

When you need the case number, hearing, court activity or disposition, switch to the Tazewell County court portal.

Custody table shows Booking date • time • DetaineeID
Also displayed Charge • age • arresting agency
Use court records for Filed case • hearings • disposition
03

Booking-photo reality

Does Tazewell County Publish Mugshots With the Custody List?

The Sheriff’s public custody table reviewed for this update displays booking and detainee data in rows, but it does not function as a public mugshot gallery. The visible fields include booking date/time, DetaineeID, name, age, race, sex, charge and agency.

If your goal is identification

Use the legal name, age, booking date, DetaineeID and arresting agency together. Those identifiers are more dependable than searching the web only for a photograph.

If you specifically need a booking photograph

Do not assume a third-party image is current or official. Ask the record-holding agency whether the photograph is a releasable public record and what request process applies.

No mugshot does not mean no arrest.

A current official custody row can verify that a person is represented in the county detention system even when the public-facing page does not display a photograph.

04

Different from current custody

Tazewell County Active Warrants vs. Recent Arrests

The Sheriff maintains a separate warrant lookup. A warrant means law-enforcement action may still be outstanding; a custody entry means the person is represented in the jail’s current custody data. Do not treat the two searches as interchangeable.

Which official Tazewell County lookup should you use?
Question Official Source What It Can Show
Is the person currently in county custody? Custody lookup Booking date/time, DetaineeID, charge, agency and identifying details.
Does the Sheriff list an active warrant? Warrant lookup Warrant ID, name, warrant type, charge and amount-to-post field where displayed.
What happened after arrest? Circuit Court portal Searchable court case and hearing information.
Do not approach or confront someone because of an online warrant result.

Public warrant data can change. For an immediate safety issue call 911; for a routine warrant-status question use the Sheriff’s official contact information.

After you find the detainee

Tazewell County Justice Center: Visits, Phone, Money and Mail

Once current custody is confirmed, most families no longer need another arrest search. They need the Justice Center’s operational rules. Tazewell County publishes unusually specific instructions for visitation, deposits, communications and mail.

Video visitation

Schedule through Cidnet

The Sheriff’s current visitation page says visits can no longer be scheduled directly through the facility. Create a Cidnet account and schedule at least 24 hours in advance.

Check visitation rules
Published visiting windows

The current page lists Sunday through Saturday visiting windows of 8:00–11:00 a.m., 1:30–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–9:00 p.m..

Visit length

About 20 minutes

The Sheriff says visits are conducted by video and last approximately 20 minutes. Visits are monitored and recorded, and everyone attending must be registered on the schedule.

Friends and family can purchase Cidnet data for supported calls, messages and video visits. The Sheriff warns that communications may be recorded and monitored.

Open Cidnet guidance
Important mail change

Regular inmate mail moved off-site in June 2025

The current Sheriff jail-information page says that effective June 23, 2025, ordinary non-legal postal mail is digitally processed rather than delivered to detainees at the Justice Center’s physical address.

Use this format for ordinary non-legal letters:

Inmate’s full name, Inmate ID
Tazewell County Justice Center, Illinois
P.O. Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131

Do not put legal mail, money orders, personal checks, gift cards or cash into this scanned-mail stream. The Sheriff says those items will be returned to the sender. If you need to send legal material, verify the current legal-mail procedure directly with the jail first.

Do not use an older Tazewell jail-mail page.

Some older indexed pages still show the Justice Center’s Pekin address for ordinary inmate mail and reference older phone providers. The current jail-information and visitation pages now describe off-site scanned mail and Cidnet. Start with the live Sheriff pages on the day you act.

06

Illinois law changed the workflow

Do Not Assume a New Tazewell County Arrest Requires Cash Bail

Illinois eliminated cash bail in pretrial release decisions when the Pretrial Fairness Act took effect on September 18, 2023. Courts now make pretrial release or detention decisions under that framework rather than using the former routine monetary-bail system.

Tazewell County’s own website contains an important inconsistency.

The Sheriff still publishes a “Bonding” page describing cash payments, Court Money, an 8% card-processing fee and a $35 processing fee, while Illinois Courts confirms that cash bail was abolished statewide for pretrial release decisions. Do not assume the Sheriff’s payment page applies to a newly arrested person simply because it remains online.

  1. 1

    Check the current custody entry

Identify the detainee, charge and arresting agency. Do not send money based on a screenshot or a phone call.

  2. 2

Check the court case or hearing

Use the Tazewell County court portal to determine what court activity is recorded for the defendant.

  3. 3

Ask what the payment actually represents

If an official system shows an amount, confirm whether it relates to a warrant, older obligation, fine, fee or another court-directed payment rather than assuming it is ordinary pretrial cash bail.

  4. 4

Verify with the responsible office before paying

Use the Justice Center or Circuit Clerk contact information published by Tazewell County. The specific court order controls the defendant’s release conditions.

07

What happened after booking?

How To Search Tazewell County Criminal Court Records

Tazewell County’s court page specifically states that the county no longer uses Judici for court-record viewing. The county links users to its Tyler Technologies public portal instead.

  1. 1

Start from the county Courts page

Use Tazewell County Courts so you can verify that you are following the county’s current court-record link.

  2. 2

    Open Online Court Records

The county sends users to the Tazewell County Circuit Court public portal.

  3. 3

Enable JavaScript and cookies if the portal does not load

The court portal expressly requires JavaScript and cookies. A blank or error screen can therefore be a browser-setting issue rather than a missing case.

  4. 4

Use Smart Search for the case

The portal provides a public Smart Search for court records and a separate hearing search. The general public can search without registering.

  5. 5

    Match the person carefully

Compare legal name, filing information, charge and case details before connecting a court result to a jail booking.

  6. 6

Use the Clerk when online access is incomplete

The portal warns that remote electronic access can be more restrictive than courthouse access. Contact the Circuit Clerk for record-copy or official-file questions.

September 2026 records change

How To Request a Tazewell County Sheriff Arrest or Incident Record

A custody row is not the underlying police or Sheriff report. If the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office created the record you need, use the Sheriff’s Freedom of Information process.

New September 5, 2026

TCSO moved electronic FOIA requests to GovQuest

The Sheriff announced that GovQuest became its preferred electronic FOIA method on September 5, 2026. The announcement says the former FOIA email no longer accepts or processes requests and that GovQuest provides a confirmation number, request tracking, email updates and electronic access to released records or video.

Open the current GovQuest request form
  1. 1

Confirm TCSO actually holds the record

Read the custody table’s Agency column. A Pekin Police, East Peoria Police, Creve Coeur Police or Illinois State Police arrest may require a record request to that agency instead.

  2. 2

Open the Sheriff’s FOIA page and current GovQuest portal

Review TCSO FOIA guidance, but use the newer GovQuest route for electronic submission because the Sheriff’s September 2026 announcement supersedes the older email instructions still visible on parts of the website.

  3. 3

    Describe the incident precisely

Provide the date range, type of incident, people involved and report number when known. Include your contact information so the FOIA officer can respond or clarify the request.

  4. 4

    Save the GovQuest confirmation number

The new portal is designed to let requesters track status and receive electronic updates. Creating an account is not required, although the Sheriff says it is encouraged for easier request tracking.

  5. 5

Expect exemptions or redactions where the law requires them

Illinois FOIA does not make every law-enforcement record fully public. TCSO notes that records can be withheld or redacted under statutory or court-ordered restrictions.

Useful 2026 website warning:

The Sheriff’s standalone FOIA page still contains older email-submission language, while the Sheriff homepage carries the newer September 5 GovQuest transition notice. For electronic requests, use GovQuest unless TCSO publishes another update.

Why Someone May Not Appear in Tazewell County Custody

What to check when the Tazewell County custody list has no match
Possible Reason What It Means Next Step
Very recent intake Booking processing may still be underway. Call Jail Information when current custody is time-sensitive.
Name mismatch The booking may use a different legal surname, suffix or spelling. Retry the exact legal name.
Already released A current-custody roster may no longer show the person. Search the Tazewell Circuit Court portal.
Different county The person may live in Tazewell County but have been arrested elsewhere. Identify the actual detention jurisdiction.
State custody A sentenced person may have transferred to IDOC. Search Illinois DOC.
Warrant but no arrest yet The person may appear on the warrant list without a custody row. Check the Sheriff’s separate warrant lookup.
Protected record Juvenile, sealed, expunged or otherwise restricted information may not be public. Use the lawful court or agency process; do not try to bypass restrictions.
  1. Confirm Tazewell County, Illinois.Do not mix it with Tazewell County, Virginia.
  2. Retry the legal name.Compare age and other identifiers rather than relying on name alone.
  3. Check warrants separately. No custody result does not answer the warrant question.
  4. Search the Tyler court portal.A released defendant can still have an active case.
  5. Check IDOC only if state custody makes sense.County jail and state prison are separate systems.
  6. Call before traveling or paying.Time-sensitive custody and release information should be verified directly.

Avoid stale and misleading information

Common Tazewell County Arrest Search Mistakes

  1. Searching Tazewell County, Virginia instead of Illinois. This page covers Tazewell County, Illinois, with the county seat in Pekin.
  2. Using only the warrant page to determine current custody. Warrants and current detainees have separate Sheriff lookup pages.
  3. Searching only for a mugshot. The official custody table provides strong booking identifiers even though it is not a mugshot gallery.
  4. Assuming the Sheriff made every arrest shown in the jail. The Agency field can identify municipal police, Illinois State Police or another agency.
  5. Using Judici for Tazewell County because an old article says to. The county now links users to its Tyler public court portal.
  6. Automatically paying a cash “bond” after a new arrest. Illinois abolished cash bail in pretrial release decisions in 2023. Verify the specific court order and current payment purpose first.
  7. Emailing the old Sheriff FOIA address. The Sheriff announced a move to GovQuest for electronic requests effective September 5, 2026.
  8. Mailing a letter directly to the Justice Center. Ordinary non-legal detainee mail now uses the off-site Phoenix, Maryland processing address.
  9. Waiting until the day of the visit to schedule. The Sheriff requires Cidnet visits to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
  10. Using an arrest result as a complete screening report. USA-Arrests.org is not a consumer reporting agency. Employment, tenant, credit, insurance and similar regulated decisions require legally appropriate screening procedures.

Tazewell County-specific questions

Tazewell Recent Arrests FAQs

Where can I check recent arrests in Tazewell County IL?

Start with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s official Inmate Lookup — Custody page. The table shows current custody information including booking date, booking time, DetaineeID, name, age, charge and arresting agency.

Does the Tazewell County inmate list show mugshots?

The current public custody table reviewed for this update is primarily a data roster and does not operate as a public mugshot gallery. Use booking identifiers such as DetaineeID, age, booking date and agency to confirm a person. Ask the record-holding agency about a booking photograph if you specifically need one.

How do I check active warrants in Tazewell County Illinois?

Use the Sheriff’s separate Inmate Lookup — Warrants page. A warrant search and current-custody search are different: someone can have a listed warrant without appearing in the jail’s current custody table.

Does Tazewell County still use Judici for court records?

No. The Tazewell County Courts page states that the county no longer uses Judici to view court records. It links the public to the county’s Tyler Technologies Circuit Court portal instead.

How do I find a Tazewell County court case after an arrest?

Use the Tazewell County Circuit Court public portal linked by the county. The portal provides Smart Search and hearing-search tools, is free for the general public and does not require public users to register for basic record searching.

Do I need to pay cash bail after a recent Tazewell County arrest?

Do not assume so. Illinois eliminated cash bail in pretrial release decisions on September 18, 2023. Tazewell County Sheriff still maintains an online bonding page describing certain payments, so verify the specific defendant’s current court order and the purpose of any requested payment before sending money.

How do I visit someone in the Tazewell County Justice Center?

Schedule through Cidnet at least 24 hours in advance. The current Sheriff page lists daily visiting periods of 8:00–11:00 a.m., 1:30–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–9:00 p.m. Visits are by video, generally last about 20 minutes and are monitored and recorded.

Where should I send regular mail to a Tazewell County detainee?

For ordinary non-legal mail, the current Sheriff page lists the inmate’s full name and Inmate ID, Tazewell County Justice Center, Illinois, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Do not use that scanned-mail route for legal mail, cash, checks or gift cards.

How do I request a Tazewell County Sheriff arrest or incident report?

The Sheriff announced that electronic FOIA requests moved to GovQuest beginning September 5, 2026. Use the GovQuest portal for a new electronic request and include the date range, incident type, people involved and report number when known.

When should I use Illinois DOC or VINE instead of the Tazewell County inmate list?

Use IDOC when the person may be in Illinois state correctional custody rather than the Tazewell County jail. Use Illinois VINE when you need supported custody or court-status information and notification services. For current local jail custody, start with the Tazewell County Sheriff.
