Dekalb County Recent Arrests: Mugshots, Bookings & Records

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office directs users to the county’s Tyler Technologies Judicial Information System for detailed inmate information. The portal includes a dedicated Jail Search for viewing a person’s jail record.

   Open the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and use its Inmate Lookup link, or go directly to the county Jail Search.

   Search with the most accurate legal-name information you have. If several people have similar names, compare the record details carefully rather than assuming the first result is the correct person.

   Open the individual jail record

   Review the available booking information, arrest date, charges and other jail details. The Sheriff’s Office specifically directs the public to this system for detailed inmate information.

   Write down the booking or case identifiers

   If you plan to call the jail, request a booking photo or search the court record, save the person’s exact name and any booking, case or identifying number displayed by the official system.

   Use Smart Search for the court case

   Return to the Judicial Information System and select the court-record search when you need docket events, filings or disposition information.

   Call the jail when the status is time-sensitive

   For a release, pickup, bond or immediate custody question, call the DeKalb County Jail General Information Hotline at 404-298-8145. The jail operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Sheriff’s Office provides an Open Records route for public documents and booking-photo requests. Availability can depend on the specific record, Georgia law and the requester’s circumstances, so do not assume every booking photo will be publicly supplied in the same way.

   Use DeKalb Jail Search and identify the correct person. Save the current booking number if the system provides one.

   Go to Open Records & Public Information. The Sheriff’s Office links its request process there for documents and booking photos.

   Include the individual’s full name, date of birth if known, booking information and a clear description such as “booking photograph associated with the current DeKalb County Jail booking.” Specific requests are easier to process than broad requests for every available record.

   Select how you want the response delivered

   The Sheriff’s online form currently offers delivery choices including email, U.S. mail, fax with a page limit, pickup or in-person review.

   Watch for the agency response

   The Sheriff’s request form states that available documents are generally addressed within three business days when possible. If volume or another factor prevents that, the agency says an explanation of the delay will be provided in writing.

The amount of bail is set by the court. DeKalb County identifies three main posting methods: cash bond, professional bonding company and property bond. Do not arrive with money or real-estate paperwork until you know which type is permitted for the specific case.

   Look for the filed case, court events and disposition information rather than assuming the original jail charge remained unchanged through the entire prosecution.

   The DeKalb portal says a public user can search cases and events without an account. To view and print available document images, register and request the Public Access with Documents role from the profile area.

How to schedule a remote visit

   Use the official page first so you see any current alerts or rule changes.

   Register with the listed ViaPath service

   The Sheriff’s current instructions direct visitors to its ViaPath visitation registration route.

   Wait for account approval

   Your account must be approved and you must be on the inmate’s approved visitation list.

   Schedule at least 24 hours ahead

   Telephone scheduling is not offered for these remote visits.

The Sheriff’s January 2026 materials state that personal inmate mail is being digitally delivered. Personal letters, pictures and drawings sent through the current mail-processing route are digitized for delivery to the incarcerated person.

• Write the complete facility name and state; do not abbreviate it.
• Include the inmate’s full name and identifier.
• Include the sender’s full name and physical return address.
• Use this route only for personal mail such as letters, pictures and drawings.
• Do not send attorney-client privileged mail to the digital personal-mail address.
• Do not send checks or money orders to the digital personal-mail address unless the jail’s separate financial instructions specifically direct you there.

2. Check the court record.A released person can disappear from a current-custody context while the criminal case remains active.

5. Do not assume “not found” means “never arrested.”Database scope, timing, custody transfers and legal restrictions can affect results.

1. Treating an arrest charge as a conviction. Open the court record and check the disposition.
2. Using Smart Search when you only need current jail information. Start with the dedicated Jail Search for custody and booking questions.
3. Using the jail record as a complete Georgia background check. A single county booking system is not a statewide criminal-history repository.
4. Following old visitation instructions. DeKalb changed video visitation to ViaPath in January 2026.
5. Funding the wrong ViaPath account. Phone, PIN Debit, tablet and messaging funds serve different purposes.
6. Sending personal mail to an outdated jail-mail address. Check the Sheriff’s current digital-mail instructions before mailing.
7. Arriving for a property bond without all owners or documents. Property bonds require substantially more paperwork than a normal cash bond.
8. Expecting GDC to show an ordinary county detainee. GDC is for Georgia Department of Corrections custody, not a substitute for DeKalb Jail Search.
9. Assuming the mugshot is automatically available everywhere. Use the Sheriff’s Open Records process when you need an official booking photograph.
