Westmoreland County places a legal-use disclaimer in front of its inmate database. The county says the information is provided for general information, may contain errors or omissions, and must not be misused for threats, harassment, unlawful activity or resale.

   The county requires users to acknowledge its disclaimer before entering the search. Read it rather than clicking through automatically; it explains accuracy limits, permitted use and Pennsylvania Criminal History Record Information Act considerations.

   After acknowledging the disclaimer, use the search interface provided by the county. Avoid assuming a similar name is the same person.

   Compare identifiers carefully

   Use the identifying information displayed in the official result to distinguish people with similar names. If a booking ID appears, keep it available because the county’s inmate-fund system specifically requires the inmate name and booking ID.

   If no result appears, do not stop there

   The database is for current inmates. Search Pennsylvania UJS court records if the person may already have been released, posted bail or had the case move forward.

   Call the prison when current custody is urgent

   Westmoreland County Prison is at 3000 S Grande Boulevard, Greensburg, PA 15601. The main number is 724-830-6000.

The county’s official public resource is titled Search Current Inmates; Westmoreland County does not present that page as a separate historical mugshot gallery or rolling archive of everyone arrested during the last 24, 48 or 72 hours.

If a current inmate record displays a photograph or image, treat it only as part of that custody record. If a photograph is absent, do not assume that a private mugshot repost is more accurate than the county or court record.

   Use UJS Case Search. This is the statewide Pennsylvania judiciary portal, not a private paid background-check site.

   Filter to Westmoreland County when possible

   County filtering helps prevent matches from other Pennsylvania counties when a person has a common name.

   Search the person’s legal name

   Use participant first and last name. Add a date of birth or another identifier only when the portal supports it and you are confident the information belongs to the right person.

   Check both Magisterial District and Common Pleas records when necessary

   Some criminal matters begin before a Magisterial District Judge and later move to the Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas. A first search that finds no Common Pleas case does not necessarily mean no lower-court record exists.

Westmoreland County’s Clerk of Courts publishes unusually detailed bail instructions. Where bail is posted depends on the time of day and the court level handling the case.

   Start at Westmoreland County Bail/Bail Bondsman. Do not start from an ad for a payment processor or bondsman.

   During Clerk office hours, use the courthouse route

   The county says bail can be posted at the Clerk of Courts Office on the second floor of the Westmoreland County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays and weekends. Bring valid identification.

   If the case is still at Magisterial District Court level, check that court

   The county says bail may be posted at the Magisterial District Judge when the case remains at that level.

   After 4 p.m., contact the prison or an authorized bondsman

   The county directs after-hours questions to Westmoreland County Prison at 724-830-6000 or to a bail bondsman. The prison’s published bail procedure says the prison itself accepts money orders for bail payments.

   If paying online, read the extra steps before submitting

   The county lists UJS ePAY as an electronic route and currently states that a 2.75% non-refundable service fee applies, with a $20,000 maximum credit-card transaction. The county also instructs online bail payers to contact the Clerk of Courts at 724-830-3609 regarding the listed filing fee.

   Do not assume payment equals immediate release

   Westmoreland County specifically warns that submitting an electronic bail payment does not guarantee release. Surety documents or other release conditions may still need to be completed.

Once current custody is confirmed, stop searching general arrest pages and use the prison’s task-specific services. Visitation, inmate money, commissary, telephone time and mail all have separate procedures.

Use the county’s own Deposit Money page as your starting point. The current page identifies Westmoreland County Prison as Facility #715601 and says automated deposits require the inmate’s name and booking ID.

   Use the county inmate search first. Record the inmate’s correct name and booking ID if shown.

   Go to Westmoreland County Deposit Money rather than searching directly for a payment company.

   The county’s current automated-deposit instructions identify the prison facility number as 715601. The inmate name and booking ID are also required.

   Choose kiosk, online, phone or money order

   The county currently lists TouchPay kiosk, online and telephone deposit options. Money orders can also be mailed when made payable to the inmate. Do not mail cash or a personal check.

   Review the convenience fee before paying

   Automated transactions carry convenience fees. The county also states that the inmate account balance cannot exceed $400.

   Save the receipt or confirmation number

   Kiosk deposits provide a receipt, online deposits can provide confirmation and email receipt, and phone deposits provide a voice confirmation number.

Fees above are the amounts currently published by Westmoreland County and can change. Deposits above $200 use percentage-based fees on the county’s published schedule. Recheck the official fee page immediately before paying.

General incoming mail requires the sender’s name and return address, the inmate’s name and booking number, and the prison address. Westmoreland County says non-privileged letters, drawings, greeting cards and photographs are generally photocopied in black and white for delivery.

A jail entry, police incident report and court docket are different records. Before filing a Right-to-Know request, Westmoreland County specifically asks people to check whether the information is already available through its online public-record searches.

   Be specific rather than requesting “everything”

   The county’s policy requires enough detail to identify the requested record. A date, incident number, department and record type can substantially reduce confusion.

4. Using a mugshot as proof of guilt. A booking photograph is not a court disposition.
5. Using UJS dockets as a formal employment background check. The Pennsylvania courts expressly say public docket sheets should not replace a Pennsylvania State Police criminal-history check.
6. Paying bail online and assuming release is automatic. The county says electronic payment does not by itself guarantee release.
7. Sending inmate funds through an old third-party link. Open the current Westmoreland County Deposit Money page first.
8. Mailing cash to an inmate. The prison’s published instructions prohibit cash and personal checks through inmate mail.
9. Searching PA DOC for every new arrest. DOC covers state-sentenced or department-supervised individuals, not ordinary county-prison custody.
